As summer officially comes to an end, it’s time to start preparing for the hustle and bustle of back to school and the holiday season. With school, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas all happening in the last few months of the year, everyone in our family will be busy! Unfortunately, those busy times can rob me of the willpower I need to focus on living a healthy lifestyle. My plan is to prepare myself mentally now, so I can continue to practice a healthy lifestyle, even when we are busy.

Healthy Lifestyle Tips for Busy People

Write It Down

Planning ahead and writing it down keeps me and our family accountable. A family calendar or planner will ensure scheduled activities don’t interfere with healthy lifestyle habits. Like 74% of Americans I agree it’s a lot easier to eat unhealthy than it is to eat a healthy, balanced diet.

Be sure to plan your meals and snacks to prevent last minute fast food stops. Schedules keep this mom happy and sane.

Get Moving

Staying active is so important! Unfortunately, moving more is the item that I tend to put on the bottom of my to-do-list. Focusing on short bouts of movement works best for me. I set an alarm on my phone, so I can get up move around. I stretch or walk the hall to make sure I stay alert and get my blood circulating. 10 minutes of movement at least three times a day is the minimum you should be practicing to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Set aside 30 minutes each day to get moving. If all else fails, go out and play!

Drink Up

Your body will love you for keeping it hydrated. Water is essential to body function and should be a major part of any healthy lifestyle. Drinking at least eight glasses of water a day is essential to health and the more you can drink the better. Reusable water bottles with ounce markings keep me on track. I start drinking water soon after my feet hit the floor in the morning and keep going all day long. Limiting caffeine is also recommended as good practice when trying to promote a healthy lifestyle. (I’m still working on this one.)

Eat Right

Eating healthy when you’re busy can be a struggle. Don’t forget planning ahead will make a big difference. Studies have found that many Americans aren’t getting the key nutrients they need from food alone. Taking a multivitamin can help fill daily nutrition gaps in your diet. I recently added the new Centrum® VitaMints® to my list of healthy lifestyle habits. Centrum® VitaMints® is a complete multivitamin that includes key nutrients—like B Vitamins, and Vitamins C & E— to help fill nutritional gaps and support your energy, immunity and metabolism*.

Why am I using multivitamins as part of a healthy lifestyle? Because nine out 10 Americans fall short in getting essential nutrients from food alone and I know I am one of them.

Centrum® VitaMints® have a refreshing minty taste. I am not a fan of swallowing pills, so the surprising pleasant-tasting, refreshingly minty, multivitamin in chewable form was just right for me. Having the Cool Mint flavor Centrum® VitaMints® in my bag and being able to take them with or without food or water makes it easy for me to add America’s most-preferred multivitamin brand, Centrum® to my daily healthy lifestyle routine.

Adjust your sleep patterns to ensure you are mentally and physically prepared for your busy schedules. Although the amount of sleep each person needs will vary, you don’t want to have me on your side if I haven’t had at least 7 ½ hours with my head on the pillow.

Planning ahead, drinking water, moving more, eating right and adding a multivitamin along with a good night’s sleep is how I plan to practice a healthy lifestyle during the busiest season of the year.

How will you practice a healthy lifestyle even when you are busy?
