Did you know November was Lung Cancer Awareness Month? More awareness is needed, not just in November, but all year long.
Spread the Word about Lung Cancer Awareness
We need to talk about lung cancer and lose the stigma that surrounds it. No one deserves to get lung cancer. Lung cancer is an ugly disease that needs to be talked about and needs to be eradicated. Cancer is a word that I hope and pray you never have to hear.
My mother is currently battling lung cancer. She was diagnosed in July and has been receiving treatment since then. More than 430, 000 people living today have been diagnosed with lung cancer at some point. Lung cancer is a scary diagnosis, but there is hope! As you can imagine, I have been learning as much as I can about lung cancer. I hope you can join me in educating yourself and others about this awful disease.
Did you know that in the United States lung cancer is the leading cancer killer of both men and women? It accounts for 14% of all cancer diagnoses. Wow, that is a staggering statistic! I wonder why lung cancer and its death rate isn’t a well-known fact? More people die each year of lung cancer than breast, prostate and colon cancer combined. Again, wow!
Sadly, lung cancer is lacking resources, support and public empathy that many other diseases are privy to. Let’s work together to change that. By sharing our stories and learning about advances in the diagnosis of lung cancer we can raise awareness and stop the stigma.
