No matter how motivated, inspired, or hardworking we are, there’s no substitute for sleep. You can fake it for a while but eventually, you are going to have to get a good nights sleep to recoup and reset. I’m sharing some of my favorite ways to sleep better at night in hopes that they’ll help you enjoy a better rest as well!

Ways To Sleep Better At Night

Some people can sleep anywhere, under any circumstance, without hesitation or planning. If you are one of those people, I envy you! Since I’m not always the best at getting enough sleep I use these tips and tricks to sleep better at night.

I need a routine to sleep better at night.

There’s no magic solution that allows you to sleep better at night, one of the ways I make sure I can get enough rest is by establishing a routine. I try and keep the same hours. At the end of the day, I try and stick to the same tasks and habits so that when I finally get into bed I can rest better and more soundly.

You’ll sleep better at night in a comfortable environment.

I like it cool when I sleep. If I get too hot I’m restless and uncomfortable. Make sure that you are paying attention to the environment in which you sleep. Get a fan, change the type of sheets, whatever it takes to make the environment more comfortable and relaxing!

Another thing to consider is your mattress. We spend something like half of our lives sleeping…so it’s important to consider where you are spending that time. A quality mattress is more than a good investment, it’s a healthy choice!

Recently I decided we needed a new mattress. It’s a daunting task, choosing the right mattress for not just me but also my husband! This is our first brand new mattress as a couple. We’ve always had hand me down mattresses from family members and it was just time for us to upgrade.

We settled on a hybrid mattress that is a combination of memory foam and the classic metal springs. I like the structure of a hybrid mattress. When Sweetnight reached out and offered to send us their Sweetnight 12 Inch Queen mattress that is constructed with individually wrapped innerspring coils and gel memory foam I knew it was the right one for us!

Their mattresses come with a 10-year warranty (which is so amazing, and a sign of a quality product that will hold up over time). They are also using CertiPUR-US certified memory foam that is made with no harmful substances and is naturally hypoallergenic! I love this bit because we have so many pets. I don’t want to think about all those dust mites, mold, and bacteria being able to live in my mattress. So not only does this mattress have cooling gel technology to help us sleep cool, it cuts down on all the nasty stuff that can build up in traditional mattresses over time!

Want to know the very best part?! I didn’t have to go to a mattress store and be pressured into buying things that I don’t want or need. The Sweetnight mattresses are compressed, rolled, and vacuum sealed. They come delivered right to the front door by our friendly delivery guys in a box!

One more thing I have to rave about is the reviews…after sleeping on this bed I know why people are so impressed. Not only is the process simple and easy, but these mattresses are also affordable and have incredible reviews on Amazon.

They’ve analyzed over 10,000 user experiences to fine tune their product. You can tell that a lot of research went into the construction, materials, and overall product design. It’s a great looking mattress that is also super comfortable and supportive.

It’s easier to sleep better at night when you cut out electronics.

We are a world FULL of tech-savvy, ultra-connected, constantly checking, screen loving drones! If you are having trouble sleeping at night you might consider limiting your screen time a few hours before, and once you get into bed. Not only does the harsh light change the chemistry of our brains, but it’s also jarring and obtrusive which is not conducive to good sleep.

For you, iPhone users out there, take advantage of the night mode setting. You can program your phone to automatically switch to the warmer toned light in the evenings and then it will shut off by the time you check your phone in the morning. This little change to your routine will be great for your eyes and better for your sleeping habits.

Did you exercise today? If so you might sleep better at night!

I’ve found, through total chance, that I sleep better at night when I have been more active and gotten a bit of exercise during the day. I’m not suggesting you run a marathon and then try to hop into bed to sleep, that won’t work. What does work is keeping your body active during the day. It’s much easier for your body to fall into a sound sleep when it is physically in need of a recharge.

This might mean adding in a morning working, finding ways to get in some extra steps at work, or an evening walk with your family. Whatever you are doing to stay active, monitor the impact on your sleeping habits. You might find that a bit more exercise helps you sleep better at night!

Eating healthy helps me to sleep better at night.

At first I thought this was just a fluke, however, it makes sense when you think it through. Eating foods that are heavily processed, high in sugar, carbs, fat, and other energy-producing elements can leave your body confused and wired. A more well-balanced diet can help naturally regulate your sleep. That being said, I also purposefully avoid things that are high in sugar and caffeine after dinner. I try and make smart decisions all day long but I am especially careful in the evenings so that I don’t end up missing out on a solid nights sleep because I’m feeling jittery or anxious!

Seek out natural supplements to help you sleep better at night.

I’m not a big fan of medicine in unnecessary situations. If there is a natural alternative or a lifestyle change that I can make to fix the problem, that’s where I’ll start! In the case of trying to sleep better at night, there are some natural supplements that can help. Melatonin is one, chamomile is another. If you are having trouble getting calm and relaxed for sleep at night try adding in one of these supplements along with some peaceful meditation before bed.

If you aren’t a fan of meditation some breathing exercises would do the trick just as well! Anything that will calm your mind and allow you to fall asleep is ideal!

Try all of these great tips and consider investing in a Sweetnight mattress so you can sleep better at night.
