Staying Active in the Empty Nest Season

Staying Active in the Empty Nest Season is sponsored content written by me in partnership with Depend®. All opinions are my own.

It’s back to school season and a lot of the parents I know are wondering what to do with themselves.  All the kids in this house have grown and are doing their own things, so I have plenty I want to do. My husband and I are fully enjoying our new freedoms and embracing the empty nest season. We’ve been taking random empty nest adventures, spending time in our new outdoor space and staying active as a couple.

Staying active in the empty nest season is important for your health

Whether we decide to go on a road trip, kayak on the lake, walk a new trail or visit a new thrift store, spending time together is the number one goal. If the empty nest season has you down in the dumps staying active can help ward off some of those blah feelings. Reconnect with your spouse, friends or family. Discover a new hobby and take the time to focus on what YOU need. You’ve spent the last 20 years or more taking care of others, now it’s your turn.

It’s time to focus on your own health and well-being. A check up of your mental and physical health is in order.  Maybe schedule a massage or start a new volunteer project. Whatever you decide, it’s your turn to be at the top of the to-do list. You deserve to live life to the fullest, while being healthy and well.

Since the majority of our empty nest season time is being spent outdoors or in the car, I have to be mindful of my body. Because I have incontinence (thank you three natural childbirths) I don’t want to be caught away from home and suddenly have an accident. Sometimes this 49 year old body decides to betray me and those embarrassing bladder leaks try to slow me down. I am not ready to slow down.

Thankfully I can rely on Depend® Fit-Flex  Underwear to help me stay active and dry. No one wants to be enjoying time with their significant other and have urine run down their leg. Depend® Fit-Flex underwear for women are natural in color, fit and feel just like real underwear. You can wear them under any outfit and no one, but you will know they are there. It’s definitely a confidence booster.

Staying Active in the Empty Nest Season

Are you planning to stay active in the empty nest season?

Staying active during the day has helped me feel better about myself and I’ve even been sleeping better. I try to walk for at least 60 minutes a day. I don’t do all 60 minutes in one trip and I take the weekends off. Blocking out the time to focus on my own health and wellness, has given me a new sense of being. I am definitely enjoying the empty nest season and my new found self!
