Time to Take Care of Yourself, is my new mantra for 2015. As women we tend to think we can do it all! Women are doers and hey, there is nothing wrong with doing it all, as long as you find the time to take care of yourself. I don’t know about you, but when it comes to my own well-being, I tend to put myself on the bottom of the list.
Why do we do this to ourselves? Why do we feel we don’t deserve the best? Why do we feel like what we do for others is never enough? In 2015 my number one goal is going to be self-care. I invite you to join me with a few simple steps to find the time to take care of yourself.
Write It Down
Start simple. Grab a journal or tablet and begin by making a list of things you personally enjoy. (Not a list of what you enjoy doing for others) If you haven’t been taking the time to take care of yourself, this list may give you a bit of trouble. Think back to before family or work obligations and list out activities that made you happy or new things you would like to try.
Things that make me happy include: reading, cooking and playing games. It makes me sad that I’ve put these happy feelings on the back burner and lost myself in the roles of wife, mom and caregiver. I have told other moms for years that they need to fill up their own glasses so they can nourish those around them, but have failed myself. No more! I will be filling my own cup and taking time (even if I have to schedule it) to read, enjoy friends and try a few new DIY ideas.
Make Smart Lifestyle Choices
You are an adult and I am sure I don’t need to remind you that making poor lifestyle choices can have a negative effect on your body, mind and soul. My body, mind and soul are important to me and I know I need to make a few changes so I can proactively make smart lifestyle choices.
I want to drink more water. When I am out of the house at my day job, I usually can drink 6 to 8 glasses of water. That handy dandy water cooler, makes it easy. I only work 4 days a week, so the other days, I slack off and don’t hydrate like I should. That needs to change.
Being ready to tackle any challenges that life throws at me is something I deserve. Making sure I am able to do all the fun things on my list and be the best I can be is my goal. At Walmart today, I picked up Ester-C® 500mg Tablets to begin to focus on my immune support. It’s important to me that my immune system is supported.* Ester-C® is a once daily Vitamin C supplement that you take with a meal. You can find Ester-C® available in the vitamin aisle at Walmart stores. Right now Ester-C® is on Rollback, making it a great time to stock up!
Ester-C® 500mg Tablets provide the support you can count on all day, every day.* A daily dose of Ester-C® gets into your white blood cells, and stays there – for up to 24 hours, which is longer than regular Vitamin C.* Plus, Ester-C® is specially manufactured to neutralize pH, which means it’s non-acidic and gentle on your stomach.* Find more information when you get social with Ester-C on Facebook and Twitter.
Around-the-clock immune support is easy with Ester-C® 500mg Tablets.* Something that is not easy for me is exercise. I want to do it, I need to do it, but I don’t do it. I want to make some changes in my appearance for me, no one else. Exercise needs to be and will be part of my smart lifestyle choices in 2015.
Will you join me in making simple lifestyle changes and be the best you can be?
Nurture Your Spiritual Self
This is the year, I fill my cup. If you spend all of your time making others happy and put your own personal well-being on the back burner you will start to become bitter. Meditating on God’s word, relaxing and feeding your soul will better equip you to take care of yourself and in turn you can be a blessing to others. When you feel refreshed and spiritually awakened your inner and outer peace will shine for all the world to see. Take the time to fill your cup with the things that make you happy.
Try Something New
Whatever you decide to do this year, resolutions, goals or lifestyle changes, do something to step outside your comfort zone. As you begin to focus on ways to take care of yourself, trying new things will become easier than you think. I’d love to try to revive my crocheting skills (something I haven’t done since middle school) and focus on upcycling projects. What about you?
How will you achieve finding new ways to take care of yourself in 2015?

February 21, 2015 at 6:37 pmI definitely learned this lesson after having my daughter! I was always GO GO GO for everyone else and stopped working on me, inside and out. I was stressed and out of shape, which only made me feel worse. I kicked that habit, enrolled my daughter in daycare and used the hours she was at school to FOCUS ON ME. Even if I didn’t get out for a run or a workout, I did something as lovely as watch my favorite TV show without interruption! MAN, did I feel better! You are so right, you have to take care of yourself as much as you do for everyone else!

February 22, 2015 at 8:05 pmI am so glad you are able to take time for yourself. Moms really need to fill their own cup so they can continue to fill up others!

February 21, 2015 at 11:39 pmYou are so incredibly right in saying that you need to take the time to take care of yourself. As a busy mom and wife, I always give so much of myself to others…it is time I take a break for myself. Looking forward to indulging in a few small splurges to help me get recharged (mani/pedi, binge watch some reality tv…)

February 22, 2015 at 3:28 amThis post is what I needed to read today. Honestly, over the last few years, it has always been about the kids or my ex-husband (at the time) and I just put anything that had to do with me to the back burner. Which once he left, really left me in a place where I realize, I have been ignoring myself this whole time and that I need to really do that more this year and from now on. That’s what I’ve learned over the last few months..

February 22, 2015 at 8:10 pmIt took me a long time to realize that I was doing a disservice to myself and my family by putting myself on the bottom of the list. Doing for others is much easier when you feel good about yourself.

February 22, 2015 at 3:45 amNurturing my spiritual life and trying something new are the first two things I’ve done this first quarter of the year. The lifestyle thing is still questionable at this moment, I need to do some effort to take care that part of my life. Hoepfully, I can be able to give more time to take care of myself.

February 22, 2015 at 9:40 amThank you so much for your tips. I seem to be aging rapidly the older I get. I actually bought a journal for this year to jot down what I need to and until I read this post I forgot all about it. I’m going to get on the Vit C bandwagon and start taking that as well.

February 22, 2015 at 8:13 pmI just started journaling this year, too. It’s definitely a way to relive stress. Good luck with yours!

February 22, 2015 at 7:52 pmI think the most important thing to achieve balance is learning to take care of your (though cheesy to say) mind, body and soul. You have addressed all aspects which is important because there is no one dimension that outweighs the other. If you express yourself and learn to deal with stress, and frustration you are on the path towards taking better care of yourself. Great post!

February 23, 2015 at 10:53 pmWhat a fantastic post. It is definitely so true because many of us think of others first and really don’t pay much love or attention to ourselves which in reality we should. I have never heard of this brand before but it looks great. Thanks for sharing it with us, I will be checking it out!

February 25, 2015 at 2:42 amI love all of these things to take care of yourself. I am definitely on a spiritual journey to take care of my soul because that is really important. I am also working on writing what I want and enjoy down and keeping a blessings jar!

February 26, 2015 at 5:14 pmI am one of those people who don’t set aside time to take care of me. Unless I am literally so bad I can’t get out of bed. lol. I was like that a few weeks back and now I am having a hard time bouncing back. It is so important to set time aside to relax and take care of your own health! I always say I have to take care of my son but what good am I to him if I am not well!

March 1, 2015 at 10:03 pmI’m really looking forward to taking care of myself in 2015 too. It’s so much easier to take care of your loved ones and get tasks completed you need to when you’re at your best. #client
