Homemade Taco Seasoning is quick and easy to mix up!!! I love that I can make this from ingredients already in my spice cabinet!! I use a mason jar to store mine!! Store your seasoning mix in a cool dry place and use with 4 – 6 months for best flavor. Making your own seasonings not only saves money, it lets you be in charge of the ingredients. No additives or preservatives.

Ingredients for Homemade Taco Seasoning:

2 TBSP. Garlic Powder
5 tsp. Chili Powder
5 tsp. Paprika
1 TBSP. onion powder ( I just used minced onion this time and it turned out well)
2 TBSP. Cumin
1/8 tsp. Cayenne Pepper (more if you like spicy)

Directions for Homemade Taco Seasoning:

Put all the ingredients in the mason jar and shake it up!!! Each time I use the seasoning I give the jar a good shake to make sure everything is mixed well.   When cooking your meat use about 1 Tbsp per 1lb of  meat!

Taco night is HUGE in our house and its a great frugal meal for my family! We pick up ground meat on markdown all the time and make a taco bar! The tortillas we also find often on markdown often as well and they freeze great for later on as well!!

What is your favorite way to save money on seasonings?

  1. We go through quite a bit of taco seasoning, so it would be so helpful to mix up a big batch and always have some on hand. Being able to control the level of spiciness sounds great.
