Essentially what we are making here is a peanut butter cup only it’s got a green Grinch themed candy shell and the filling is actually almond butter instead of peanut butter.

You can make these Grinch almond butter candy hearts in any shape. We’re using hearts but you can use any mold really. Feel free to get creative or just use what you already have on hand.

All of the ingredients in this Grinch almond butter candy are naturally gluten free, or they should be as long as your brands don’t have any additives / sneaky ingredients that mine did not!

Keep an eye on the ingredients in your candy melts and sprinkles but apart from that you shouldn’t have any problems.

This is also a great option if you are avoiding peanuts, just make sure that your almond butter won’t cause any problems and you’ll be all set!

What do I need to make these cute Grinch treats?

For this recipe we will only be using a few simple ingredients and couple of tools. I’ll link the tools and the ingredients that you can order online in case you want to grab them and be ready for making these cute Grinch treats anytime!

The almond butter cups are made with almond butter, green candy melts, and heart shaped sprinkles. That’s all you will need for the candies themselves.

To prepare them you will need heart shaped molds, pastry bags, and a pastry brush.

How to make homemade almond butter cups:

This simple step by step guide will show you just how easy it is to make your own almond butter cups at home. These are perfectly themed for the holidays but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make them all year long. Make them whatever color you like and show off your creativity for every holiday of the year!

Pour candy melts into a microwave safe bowl, setting about 10 aside for later, and heat in 30 seconds intervals, stirring well between each heating session, until fully melted.

Drizzle a spoonful of melted candy into each mold cavity, and use the pastry brush to coat the entire bottom and sides. Place in the freezer for 5 minutes.

Put almond butter into a ziplock baggie and snip off the corner, then drizzle almond butter into each candy coated mold, filling it just under the top of the mold.

Using a small spoon, add melted candy to fill the rest of each mold cavity. Place in the freezer for 10 minutes to set.

Remove candies from the mold and place upright.

Place the remaining 10 candy melts into a ziplock baggie and heat for 30 seconds in the microwave, remove and massage the bag. If not completely melted, heat in 10 second intervals, until melted.

Snip off the corner of the baggie, and add a small drop to the top of each candy, then top with a candy heart.

  • 6 oz light green candy melts
  • 1.5 oz almond butter
  • 12 candy heart sprinkles
  • Heart candy mold
  • Pastry brush
  • 2 plastic ziplock baggies

Instructions

  1. Pour candy melts into a microwave safe bowl, setting about 10 aside for later, and heat in 30 seconds intervals, stirring well between each heating session, until fully melted.
