How to Make Homemade Strawberry Shortcake

  • This recipe is easy to make but the results are incredible! It’s the perfect dessert choice that’s both light and fresh.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Coat a large cookie sheet with cooking spray (or line with parchment paper).
  • In a medium bowl, combine strawberries with powdered sugar. Set aside at room temperature until liquid starts to collect in the bottom of the bowl. Approx 10 minutes.
  • Pour the liquid into a smaller bowl, set aside. Wait a few more minutes and then press strawberries gently to squeeze out more liquid, add it to the smaller bowl.
  • You’ll need to repeat this process until you have about 1/4 cup liquid total.
  • Stir together bisquick, orange zest and milk to form a soft dough. Drop by heaping tablespoon into 8 drops. Use an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Baske for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown.
  • When cool, split each shortcake in half and top each half with 3 tablespoons of strawberries and drizzle each with some of the liquid you collected earlier.
  • Serve with 2 tablespoons of whipped cream on top.
  • 1 Serving is 2 halves!
