How to make orange chicken:

This is a pretty simple recipe. You’ll be surprised by how easily these flavors come together to make a delicious meal that the whole family will love. We like to make this when the craving for takeout strikes. It’s simple, delicious, and budget friendly!

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet on medium heat. Add in the orange zest and cook until fragrant. 1-2 minutes should be plenty.
  2. Season the chicken on both sides with salt and pepper to taste. Add to the pan and increase the temperature to medium-high heat. Cook until golden brown. About 2 minutes per side depending on the thickness.
  3. Drain the oranges saving about 1/4 cup of the liquid and add that and the oranges to the skillet. Cook for about 2 minutes. Use a whisk to combine the broth, soy sauce, more orange zest if desired, and cornstarch in a small bowl. Add that mixture to the pan and simmer as sauce thickens.
